The term Face Weight refers to the weight of the carpet pile per square yard of carpet, which is measured in ounces. Face Weight is the weight of the carpet's fibers only; this does not include the backing material. This is different than the carpet's total weight, which is the combined weight of the pile and the backing. A higher face weight simply means that more yarn was used in the production, which makes for a more beautiful carpet. However, it's not just face value, a higher face weight ultimately provides more durability. This is just one of the key factors we use in determining the quality of our product.
